How is the Drill Rig Conversion Kit mounted?

The Drill Rig adapter has a threaded female end with NWJ threads. If requested, we can modify this to your specific thread connection needs. It simply screws on by hand and includes a push cap and pull cap to place on the rods being pushed into and extracted from the ground.

Do I need to anchor my drill rig down when doing CPT?

It is best practice to anchor one flight of augers to ensure you have maximum push force, especially when pushing through dense sediments. We recommend checking with your drill rig manufacturer to determine the most appropriate way to anchor to augers.

Which drill rig manufacturers is the Drill Rig Conversion Kit compatible with?

The Drill Rig Conversion Kit can be used on virtually any drill rig with a static push/pull hydraulic mast. It is currently fielded by operators using Central Mine Equipment Company, Mobile Drill International, Acker Drill Company, Diedrich Drilling Inc, and others.

What power supply do I need for the Data Acquisition System?

You need access to a 110v power source, ideally a pure sine wave inverter. If your drill rig does not have a power supply, a small generator is recommended.

How many people are required to operate the Drill Rig Conversion Kit?

It only takes two people to conduct CPT soundings.

Can you push through rock or cemented soils?

If you find that you must push through solid rock or cemented soils, you will need to core through and continue your CPT sounding through the cored hole. The CPT software allows you to pause a test, complete the coring, and resume the test with the new depth documented.
